1. Summary
Launcher1 is a minimal Android launcher published under the project name Nxc91. The app was built by Onni Kilpeläinen, a developer based in Finland. There is no company behind the project — just one person who built it.
Where this policy talks about "Nxc91", it refers to the project and the app. Where it talks about "Onni Kilpeläinen", it refers to the actual person responsible for the project as the legal data controller.
Launcher1 runs entirely on your device. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs and no Nxc91 servers receiving your data. Almost everything you do with the app — your layout, your daily limits, your focus rules — never leaves your phone.
The only personal data the developer receives directly is what you choose to send: the contents of any email you write to support@nxc91.com. A limited set of technical information is collected by Google Play when you install the app from the Play Store, as explained below.
2. Who is responsible (data controller)
The legal data controller for the personal data described in this policy is the individual person who built and publishes the app:
Onni Kilpeläinen
Developer, Finland
Project published as: Nxc91 (Launcher1)
Contact: support@nxc91.com
3. What data the app processes on your device
The following information is read or stored only on your phone by Launcher1. It is not sent to Nxc91 or to any third party.
- Installed apps and their icons. Launcher1 reads the list of apps installed on your device through Android's standard launcher APIs so it can show them on your home screen.
- App usage statistics. If you grant Usage access in Android settings, Launcher1 reads aggregated, system-provided usage data (which app was in foreground, for how long) so it can power features like daily limits, focus mode and screen time indicators. Processing happens locally.
- Your launcher settings. Layout, app order, dock items, daily limits, focus rules, open-delay configuration, dark mode preferences, todo list entries, onboarding state, and similar settings. These are stored locally using Android's DataStore and SharedPreferences.
- Wallpaper. If you set a wallpaper through Launcher1, that wallpaper is applied through Android's wallpaper API. Nxc91 does not receive or store the image.
4. Permissions and why they are used
- PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS (Usage access). Optional. Used for daily limits, focus mode and similar attention-aware features. You can deny or revoke it at any time in Android settings; the related features will simply not work.
- SET_WALLPAPER. Used only when you choose to change your wallpaper through Launcher1.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS. Used for short, functional notifications (for example, returning you to onboarding after granting a permission). No marketing notifications are ever sent.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE. Used for a short-lived helper service tied to onboarding. It does not run continuously in the background and does not collect data.
- INTERNET. Declared so the launcher can hand off intents to other apps (for example, opening a link in your browser). Launcher1 itself does not make network requests to any Nxc91 server.
5. What data Google Play and Google may collect
When you install Launcher1 from Google Play, Google's own systems are involved. Within the standard Google Play Console developer tools, Google collects technical information related to the app, including:
- App install, uninstall and update events tied to your Google account.
- Anonymized crash reports and Application Not Responding (ANR) reports, which include technical details such as device model, Android version and a stack trace.
- Aggregate, anonymized statistics about device types and Android versions.
Nxc91 uses this Google Play–level information only to fix bugs, understand which devices the app is failing on, and improve the app. The information is provided by Google in anonymized or pseudonymized form. Nxc91 does not have a separate analytics or telemetry pipeline beyond what Google Play Console provides by default.
Google's processing of this information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and the Google Play terms.
6. Email and support communication
If you contact support@nxc91.com we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation. We do not use it for marketing unless you explicitly ask. Email is hosted by a standard email provider, which may process the message data in the normal course of delivery.
7. Legal basis for processing (EEA / UK)
For users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR are:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): processing that is necessary to provide Launcher1 to you, including local processing of your settings.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): when you explicitly enable optional features such as Usage access. You can withdraw this at any time in Android settings.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): handling crash reports provided by Google Play in order to maintain a stable, secure app, and replying to support emails you send us.
8. Data sharing
Nxc91 does not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We do not share data with third parties for advertising or profiling. Limited sharing happens only in these cases:
- Google, as the platform that distributes the app and provides the underlying device APIs (described in section 5).
- Email provider, when delivering messages between you and support@nxc91.com.
- When required by law, court order or other valid legal process.
9. Data retention
- On-device data (your settings, todos, layout) is kept on your phone for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling Launcher1 removes it.
- Support emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request and to comply with applicable law, after which they are deleted on a periodic basis.
- Google Play–side data (crash reports, install events) is retained according to Google's retention rules.
10. International transfers
Nxc91 is based in Finland. The Google Play and email provider services used to support the app may transfer data outside the EEA, in which case the receiving service is responsible for using appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
11. Security
Nxc91 uses reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. Because almost all data stays on your device, the most important security measures are those provided by Android itself (app sandboxing, permissions, system encryption).
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data Nxc91 holds about you,
- have inaccurate data corrected,
- have your data erased,
- restrict or object to certain processing,
- withdraw consent you have given,
- request a copy of your data in a portable format,
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Finland, this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
To exercise any of these rights, contact support@nxc91.com. Note that for data Nxc91 does not actually hold (almost all of it lives only on your device), the most direct way to exercise your rights is to change your settings or uninstall the app.
13. Children
Launcher1 is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent personal data to support@nxc91.com, please contact us so we can delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
Material changes to this policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If a change materially affects how Nxc91 processes your personal data, Nxc91 will make a reasonable effort to notify users of Launcher1 (for example, on this site or in the app's release notes).
15. Contact
Questions about this policy or how Nxc91 handles your data can be sent to support@nxc91.com.
